Lake Como boat tours and boat rental
Shared and private speedboat tours with a local skipper. The villas, Bellagio and the lakeside villages, departing from the centre of Como.
A Lake Como boat tour from Como town costs from 48 € per person (shared, 1 hour, prosecco included) to 1400 € per boat (4-hour private tour to Bellagio and Varenna). Shared tours depart 6 times a day with a maximum of 12 guests, and you can cancel free of charge up to 12 hours before departure.
Our Lake Como boat tours
Every tour leaves from our pier in central Como with a licensed local skipper, fuel, life jackets and a prosecco aperitif included. The one-hour shared tour starts at 48 euro per person and is the quickest way to see the first basin and its villas; the two-hour version at 99 euro reaches Nesso. To get to the pearl of the lake there is the three-hour tour with a stop in Bellagio at 108 euro per person, and if you want to see the other shore too, the four-hour Bellagio and Varenna tour at 150 euro gives you 40 minutes ashore in each village.
If you would rather have the boat to yourselves, private tours are booked per boat, for up to 12 people, with the route planned together: the one-hour private tour from 238 euro, the two-hour from 484 euro and the three-hour from 696 euro. For the fullest day there is the four-hour private tour to Bellagio and Varenna at 1400 euro per boat. At sunset there is the one-hour sunset cruise at 68 euro per person, timed on the actual sunset of the day. And if you want to drive yourself, the licence-free boat rental starts at 320 euro for two hours, for up to 8 people.

Self-drive boat rental on Lake Como, no licence needed
If you would rather drive yourself, on Lake Como you can rent a boat without a licence: a 40 hp engine, the limit set by Italian law for driving without a boating licence, and up to 8 people on board. Departures from Cernobbio or Blevio, a few minutes from Como, for 2, 3, 4 or 5 hours, from 320 € per boat for 2 hours. Rules, times and tips are in our guide to licence-free boat rental on Lake Como.
Before you set off there is a short briefing on the controls and a map of the areas where you can sail. The lake is busy with ferries, seaplanes and swimmers: the rules keep everyone safe. If you would rather relax and leave the helm to a skipper, choose one of our private tours.
- You can drive from age 16; the rental contract must be signed by an adult (18+).
- Fuel not included: you pay for what you use.
- Maximum speed 20 knots.
- Keep the minimum distance from the shore explained before departure.
- No entry into the seaplane corridor in front of Como, where seaplanes take off and land on the water, or into other marked zones.
- Landing on beaches is not allowed.

Compare: which tour to choose
Rule of thumb: two people on a budget should take the one-hour shared tour; two people celebrating, the private boat. From four people up, do the maths: the one-hour private tour starts at 238 € per boat and can cost less per head than four tickets on a longer shared tour.

Our pier is at Viale Geno 12, on the Como lakefront next to Villa Geno, a 10-minute walk from Piazza Cavour and the city centre. Please be there 15 minutes before departure: just give your name, there is no ticket to print.
Arriving by car
The handiest car park is Parcheggio Viale Geno, a few steps from the pier, which usually has free spaces. If it is full, Lungo Lario Trieste is a 10-minute walk, while Parcheggio ai Giardini by the lake gardens and the covered Autosilo Valduce, open 24 hours, are both about 20 minutes on foot. We explain every option, with prices and opening times, in our guide on where to park in Como.
Arriving from Milan
From Milano Cadorna the train reaches Como Nord Lago in about 40 minutes and costs around 5 euro: that station is the closest, 12 minutes on foot along the lake. From Milano Centrale you arrive instead at Como San Giovanni, 20 minutes on foot or a short taxi ride. Times, prices and platforms are in our guide from Milan to Como by train, and if you are planning the whole day there is our day trip from Milan to Lake Como.
Arriving by ferry or from Bellagio
Public ferries dock at Piazza Cavour, 10 minutes from our pier. If you are coming from the other side of the lake, or want to compare the ferry with a private speedboat, read how to get from Como to Bellagio and our guide to Lake Como ferries.
